1/7  Longji Terraces 广西龙脊梯田

Longji refers to several village areas spanning across Longsheng County, about 2 hours northwest of Guilin City. Longji Terraces, with a history of nearly 700 years, were built gradually from the Yuan Dynasty and completed during the early Qing Dynasty.

Best time to visit: May and October for the seed time and harvest time.

Yuanyang Rice Terraces are the world’s largest and possibly most spectacular. The local Hani people crafted them by hand one thousand years ago and they are still in use today. The highest mountain has about 3000 terraced fields from the bottom to the top.

Best time to visit: Feb.- March

The Jiabang Rice Terraces are about 80 kilometers from Congjiang Town, in southwest China’s Guizhou Province. You can enjoy mirror-like terraces in spring, green terraces in summer, and gold terraces in autumn. Be sure to check out the unique wooden houses inhabited by the ethnic Miao people that make the place even more beautiful. .

Jiangling Terraces are located on a mountain over 1000m high in Jiangxi Province. In spring, the large blooming of flowers on the terrace fields gives its neighboring settlement, Wuyuan, a reputation as one of China’s most beautiful villages.

5/7  Youxi Terraces 福建尤溪梯田

Located in Lianhe Village, in east China’s Fujian Province, Youxi Terraces was built in  741 during the Tang Dynasty and has supported people for generations. Standing on the hillside, you can see acres of terraced fields where farmers toil, and smoke curls up from kitchen chimneys.

Best time to visit: April -May, Aug.-Dec.

6/7  Ziquejie Terraces 湖南紫鹊界梯田

With a 2,000 year history, Ziquejie Terrace was first developed during  the Qin Dynasty (221 BC- 206 BC). Layers upon layers of terraces span  the hills like green waves rolling among mountains. Visitors will be astonished by this centuries-old creation.

Best time to visit: March-April, Oct.-Dec.

7/7  Yunhe Terraces 浙江云和梯田

Located in Yunhe County, Zhejiang Province, Yunhe Terraces are scattered  among mountains and valleys at an altitude between 200 and 1400 meters. In the area travelers can see a sea of clouds, ancient villages, bamboo forests,  streams and waterfalls.
