Lijiang is blessed with fresh air, clean water, and an undisturbed landscape inhabited by friendly locals.

Imbued with an 800-year history, Lijiang Ancient Town features rows upon rows of ancient houses and an orderly waterworks system which still functions effectively today.

Lijiang Ancient Town was a key commercial and strategic site that served as stop for merchants carrying goods on the ancient Tea Horse Road — a series of caravan routes in central and southwest China. Trade spreads many cultures, and the legacy of different ethnic groups is still preserved.

It is the main town of the Naxi people, whose literature, architecture, sculpture and painting are well-known in China. Singing and dancing play an important role in their culture — their songs, often accompanied by flutes and reed pipes, are high pitched with a strong rhythms.
